Kara Harun, Byron Abalos, Justin Santiago and Joy Castro, as they discuss the creation, execution, and importance of this groundbreaking sketch comedy show based on Isabel’s experience as an immigrant, driven by her comedic perspective.
This panel will include a moderated Q&A in a Live Zoom webinar, with captions.

Isabel Kanaan, known for her roles in Second Jen and Royal Canadian Air Farce NYE, She has more than 5.5 million likes on TikTok and is a recipient of the NBC Bob Curry Fellowship and RBC’s Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Award.
Justin Santiago is a Filipina-Canadian emerging actor, and aspiring producer. She moved to Canada at the age of seven and grew up in Brampton, Ontario where she discovered her passion for all things performing arts. She is a graduate of Sheridan College having attended the Film & Television and Performing Arts Preparation program. She holds a diploma in Performing Arts from Randolph College of the Performing Arts in Toronto. Justin developed her instrument through notable stage and screen practitioners including Alix Sideris, Jordan Pettle, John Beale, Susanna Fournier and David Storch. Through her passion and determination, she landed leading roles in plays and musicals such as The Dispute (Alistair Newton), Sunshine Boy (Bad Hats Theatre), and The Drowsy Chaperone (Sheridan Performance Prep). Since graduating from school, Justin has since picked up her interests in Film and Television and has worked on sets with Go Button Media and Discovery Channel. She recently finished filming a brand new Sketch Comedy show called, ABROAD written and produced by Isabel Kanaan and Longhope Media (slated to air April 2022). She is currently working on expanding her skill set to the business side of the arts whilst continuing her passions in acting. She promotes a future of diversity and inclusion through her art and through the people she meets.
Byron Abalos is a Filipino-Canadian actor, writer, playwright and theatre producer based in Toronto. Upcoming film appearances include Hello Stranger, The Man From Toronto and Luckiest Girl Alive. Other select credits include: Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol, The Hot Zone, Coroner, Murdoch Mysteries, What We Do In The Shadows, Baronness Von Sketch, The Boys, Return to Christmas Creek, Taken, Condor, Man Seeking Woman, Defiance, Dark Matter, Covert Affairs, The Listener, Mr. Dressup and The Magic Schoolbus. Through the Bamboo, a play for young audiences that Byron co-wrote with his partner, Andrea Mapii, was published by Playwrights Canada Press in 2021. Byron was an inaugural Bob Curry Fellow at The Second City Toronto and a recipient of an NBC Emerging Voices Scholarship.
Joy Castro is an actress originally from Vancouver, BC and is a graduate of Studio 58. ABROAD is her first time working on a sketch show.
