Five Toronto Comedy Shows to See in August 2025

It’s time for the top five comedy shows to see in Toronto in August 2025. Wondering what shows TOsketchfest is watching over the next 30 days? Consider this your comedy itinerary. After a day of summer sunshine, the best way to cool off is with a belly laugh. These shows will keep your cheeks sore from laughing!

Galen’s Grocer

August 14, 9:00pm

We elbowed our way into a ticket back in July (okay, we clicked fast), and now this sold-out, award-winning Toronto Fringe show is back for one night only! There’s a serial killer. There’s more than one CEO. There’s a sitcom so meta it might implode. Basically, it’s the best grocery store comedy-drama you never knew you needed.

Judge Mintz

August 18, 8:00pm

Think Judge Judy, but with more laughs and zero legal credibility. This improvised courtroom comedy is hosted by J.J. Greenberg & Brandon Craggs. Filled with appearances by Toronto’s top improv (and sketch) comedians, every show is one-of-a-kind. We caught it at Toronto Fringe, fell in love, and now it’s our monthly dose of courtroom chaos (without any legal repercussions). Guilty of delivering laughs? Absolutely. See you in court.

Literal Trash: A Comedy Experience

August 19, 8:00pm

Back in June we had the pleasure of attending an artist talk-back and got the behind-the-scenes scoop. And now we’re fully invested in Literal Trash’s delightful journey. We will be there this August to see the character Literal Trash brought to life. Comedy that existentially dives into self-doubt and belonging? Yes, please!

Cam Wyllie’s Sketch Comedy Invitational

August 23, 7:00pm & 9:00pm

We’ve been waiting a whole year for another Cam Wyllie Sketch Comedy Invitational presented by Cam Wyllie. He’s the glue that binds sketch comedy together across North America, and honestly? We’d follow Cam Wyllie into battle. Or at least into a sketch show. With this double-show night, he brings us incredible sketch stylings from Sarah Bennett (Toronto, ON), Bicycle Jousting (St. John’s, NL), Big Ol’Mess (Denver, CO), Debit-Cash-Or-Credit (Toronto, ON), Sage Huston (Chicago, IL), and Cam Wyllie (Canada).

Wednesday Night Live

August 27, 8:00pm

Who needs their sketch comedy live on a Saturday Night? Not us! There’s no better way to get through the week than with a laugh. Midweek blues? Not on our watch. We’re ending August with a laugh-loaded Wednesday. Your boss doesn’t need to know why you’re smiling Thursday morning.

Take a Summer Comedy Road Trip

Pack your snacks and playlists because this summer road trip is worth it. Head out to Prince Edward County on August 22 (Stirling Festival Theatre) & August 23 (The Regent Theatre, Picton) to see A Perfectly Reasonable Night of Comedy! Step out of the house for an unforgettable evening with Peter Oldring and Pat Kelly (CBC Radio’s This is That) as they reunite with Carolyn Taylor (Baroness von Sketch Show). These comedy powerhouses come together for the first time since their early days at The Second City to deliver a delightfully absurd and wildly entertaining variety show.
