2023 Sketch Comedy Project Fund Recipients

The Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival is proud to announce recipients of the 2023 Sketch Comedy Project Fund – Canada’s first straight-up comedy grant program. The Sketch Comedy Project Fund offers comedy creators financial support to undertake projects that represent an important next step in their comedy careers.

Wench World Productions

Helmed by Blair MacMillian, Becky Swannick and Maddy Foley, Wench World Productions is a femme/queer-led digital sketch collective.  Building on their critically acclaimed sketch film “Cheap Rent,” this talented team is using the Sketch Project Fund support to create more hilarious sketch films with the goal to have at least 80% of their cast and crew filled by femme identifying artists.

Yaas & Vyle

The self-styled “Trixie & Katya of the Six”, Yaas & Vyle are the comedy duo Hillary Yaas & Selena Vyle, two hilarious drag queens perhaps best known for their award winning podcast “Squirrel Talk.” Yaas & Kyle were awarded Sketch Project Fund support to help develop an annual Toronto drag holiday show. These two comedy queens promise to start a new holiday tradition featuring sketch, music, drag acts and more!

West 2 West

TOsketchfest staples West 2 West are bringing their unique blend of clowning, sketch and improv comedy from the stage to an online sketch series called “The Steven Chronicles.” Each episode promises to accentuate the duo’s absurd and cartoonish comedic stylings with wacky animation, film noir vibes, heart-pounding adventure and some hilarious slapstick comedy.

The Sketch Comedy Project Fund is made possible by the generous support of The Pat and Tony Adams Freedom Fund for The Arts.
