ArtistProfile

Hopping off the plane from St. John’s NL, MOM’S GIRLS is both local and ubiquitous, silly and satirical, joyful and unafraid. Every show is built entirely by female and non-binary artists that aim to show critics that women belong on the comedic stage. With songs, sketches, and movement, Mom’s Girls (Allison Kelly, Andie Bulman, Elizabeth Hicks, and Stef Curran) will take you on a fast-paced, high-energy ride.
Troupe Bio:
Mom’s Girls is a female/non-binary sketch troupe based in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. We (Allison Kelly, Andie Bulman, Elizabeth Hicks and Stef Curran) have been performing together as a troupe for four years. As individual sketch comedians, members of Mom’s Girls have performed at Toronto SketchFest, Chicago SketchFest, New York City SketchFest, Rising Tide’s Revue (yearly NL sketch comedy show running since 1981), and the Halifax Comedy Festival.
We have written and performed 8 full-length shows. Our comedic style is absurd, feminist, observational, sexy, relatable, and (upon request) family-friendly. In addition to consistently writing and performing sketch, we produced, wrote, and starred in a comedic children’s television show called “Tales from the Floordrobe”, which is available now on Bell FibeTV1.
While our sketches are wide in scope, Mom’s Girls has developed a brand that could be described as…wholesome dirt. Sexy fun? Politically-charged buffoonery? Feminist clown? For example, our most recent show included biting satire about government negligence toward waste management in “Ms. Frizzle at the Dump,” and then ended with a Wicked parody and a group hug. At our shows, we get laughs, we get groans, and we get high-pitched party girl “WOOOOOs!”. We’re serving CODCO meets The Babysitters Club realness.
